Brokerage and crypto exchange Robinhood opened the public mainnet of its Ethereum layer-2 network on Wednesday. The network is powered by Arbitrum and described by the company as “AI-native.”
The launch expands Robinhood’s involvement in blockchain infrastructure beyond its brokerage and exchange services. It also connects the company’s tokenized stock trading plans with an Ethereum-compatible network designed around its platform.
Layer-2 networks operate alongside Ethereum, providing additional infrastructure for blockchain-based applications and transactions. Robinhood’s use of Arbitrum places its network within the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
The public mainnet marks a new stage for Robinhood’s blockchain strategy, bringing its layer-2 network into public operation as the company develops tokenized stock trading.
